Scholarship recipients announced

Introducing our Canada Memorial Foundation Scholar 2023/24. We are delighted to introduce our CMF Scholar (UK to Canada), Ryan Graham.  Hailing from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, Ryan is an exceptionally gifted mathematics student with a penchant for cold temperatures.

Ryan is no stranger to the University of Alberta, having spent a semester there in the Fall of 2021.  Speaking about his choice of university, Ryan says: “The University of Alberta offers a world-class and extensive graduate program in mathematics. In particular, training in the subject known as mathematical biology – a subject in which I ultimately intend to complete a PhD. My specific interest in this subject involves modelling the movement of cancer cells, and I plan for my period of study in Canada to give me the necessary training to pursue my PhD in this topic. Mathematical biology research is extremely collaborative, so I will use my period of graduate study in Canada to build research connections with other students and academics that I will endeavour to maintain when I return to the UK.”

Hear more from Ryan  in his introduction video above. Ryan is just our first scholar announcement, on the UK to Canada side. We also have Canadians coming to the UK, so do check back next month for that announcement! And for more information about the Canada Memorial Scholarship, visit our website. The value of the scholarship varies with the programme being pursued, but typically the scholarships, which fully cover tuition and contribute to living costs and airfare, are in the range of £25,000 plus per recipient.
