Blackfoot Nation – Trinity Laban Concert

Blackfoot Nation – Trinity Laban Concert

With the help of the Canada-UK Foundation, a delegation of representatives from the Blackfoot Nation traveled to London for a concert on February 19th 2016, that included thirteen pieces written by Canadian, American, Hungarian, Spanish and UK composers. This was part of a continued collaboration between members of the Blackfoot Nation and Rivka Golani to further understanding of Blackfoot culture.

An important part of the project was the participation of three members of the First Nation People: Ramona Bighead, Quinton Crowshoe, and a singer-dancer who will speak, perform and introduce the programme. In addition Canadian film maker Denise Calderwood, who has been documenting our collaboration from the beginning, will continue her work.

Quinton Crow Shoe, of the Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site, said:

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, the Canada – UK Foundation for this wonderful opportunity of inspiration and sharing. The Chamber music gala concert provided an excellent opportunity for collaboration and, a medium to create a better understanding and appreciation of cultures.”
