These awards (£1000 each) assist non-salaried independent UK-based scholars to visit Canada to continue their Canadianist and Canada-linked research and develop and maintain their UK-Canada research collaborations. Visits must last a minimum of at least one week. Recipients of an award will be expected to encourage knowledge and understanding of Canada in the UK by sharing their work with others at conferences, workshops, etc. and through publication. Independent scholars, as defined by the Foundation, include long-term independent researchers, with no institutional affiliation; newly qualified academics, currently not employed and still seeking their first permanent appointment; and retired academics, still actively researching, giving conference papers, and publishing.
